Lasvit presents Sanctums exhibition featuring kinetic glass installation

Promotion: Czech Republic design brand Lasvit will launch an exhibition featuring a moving glass art installation and newly launched design collections at this year's Milan design week.

The exhibition called Sanctums will feature a glass kinetic installation called A:Live created by Serbian Lasvit in-house designer Stefan Mihailović, which is designed to reference the "constant motion of life".

Designed for either private residences or public spaces, the A:Live "can create endlessly complex and seemingly living compositions," according to Lasvit.

As part of Milan design week, actors will dance throughout the exhibition, with the aim of creating an immersive theatre-like environment.

"Our Sanctums exhibition is meant to rouse emotions, and not just by offering the experience of free-spirited, immersive theatre," said owner and president of Lasvit, Leon Jakimič.

"We want to show our inner sanctums, our homes and private spaces. In Sanctums, we want to show how light makes space and how space makes feeling."

Lasvit will also present a number of recently launched design collections, including patterned glass lighting called Hidden Light by Czech Republic designers Jan Plecháč and Henry Wielgus and a curved copper lighting range by Slovakian designer Boris Klimek named Upside-Down at the Sanctums exhibition.

The exhibition also features sculptural pieces, including a colourful glass interior wall that can be used as a room divider called Cirrus by Canadian interiors brand Yabu Pushelberg, which is described as "sophisticated glass clouds that refresh any interior".

Also featured is Czech Republic Lasvit in-house designer Maria Čulenová's Frames – a hanging glass sculpture designed to create playful shadow compositions throughout a room.

"Our mission is to uplift everyone by creating breath-taking and immersive spacial experiences that touch the soul of all people who find themselves in the space," said Jakimič.

"We want our installations, artworks, collections and places to make spaces for our clients that not only evoke some beautiful feelings, but that can caress the soul."

Sanctums follows the success of the brand's previous exhibition called Monster Cabaret in 2018, which won the Milan Design Award for the best event during Milan design week.

The exhibition is curated by Maxim Velčovský who was Interior Design's Best of Year Awards 2020's Creative Director of the Year.
