Cornell University students finding solace on indoor library lawns

Students studying for finals at Cornell University are finding solace from a little piece of the outdoors that came inside this week, thanks to some creative minds at the school’s Department of Design and Environmental Analysis. Sections of turf are creating grassy oases of calm in the lobbies of Olin and Mann libraries, as well as Duffield Hall and the Physical Sciences Building.

Every year at this time, my family celebrates Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, my son’s birthday, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Needless to say, it’s a busy week for us. More than 65,000 construction, design jobs may be cut if sequestration takes place

Domestic AEC mergers and acquisitions up over same period in 2011

AEC management consulting and research firm Morrissey Goodale LLC reports today that it has tracked seven domestic deals and three international transactions for the week, bringing the total year-to-date deal count in the United States to 178, up 2% over the 174 tracked through the same period in 2011. Including the U.S., the total global deal count is now 311, down 6% from the 331 tracked through the same period last year.

EPA commercial building lead paint rule pushed back to 2015
