Inspiration #66: Outdoor Shower pt 1

Maybe it’s because I spent all last week sweating it out in our near-100% humidity building the new south fence at #L2HQ, but I’ve been dreaming of an outdoor shower lately. Refreshing after working in the backyard, rinsing off after going for a long ride, or for no reason at all – an outdoor shower in a warm climate is an experience unto its own. So much so that this will be the first of two weeks of outdoor shower inspiration. Enough talking, let’s look at some outdoor shower inspiration! First up: Modern.

This is the latest in a weekly post of residential architecture inspiration. If you want to see past weeks, you can go here. If you want to see them curated on my pinterest (sometimes before they even hit the blog), go here.

Simple and elegant, this modern outdoor shower has a stool for your gear, a basket for your towel, and a concrete pad for your feet. The surrounding gravel provides a permeable layer (as well as a modern look) and will help with water saturation into the soil.

Another simple solution, this outdoor shower has a spicket for the days you need to rinse off after a mow or a walkabout in bare feet, as well as a shower for the days you get a bit dirtier. The built-in shelves and towel hooks are a great addition to this nordic cabin.

Taking on warmer tones, this shower mixes materials to provide a private and relaxing space to get clean. Once again, the use of concrete pads and gravel provide a modern, simple solution for water drainage.

The thatched roof hints at a nearby beach, but this modern outdoor shower design stays simple and true to the function of the space. Get clean and get back to relaxing.

Another simple shower solution shows that you don’t need bells and whistles to make a great space to get clean. The details on this cabin are squeaky clean, to boot.

An ultra-modern outdoor shower enclosure merges wood and concrete to create a private space to get clean on a warm day. Yes, please!

Last, but definitely not least, this shower in New Zealand shows that you can get clean with a view. I, for one, would love to go for a hike right outside my front door and have this beautifully modern space to wash up in on my return.
