if i could, i surely would

I’d rather be a sparrow than a snail
Yes I would, if I could, I surely would
I’d rather be a hammer than a nail
Yes I would, if I only could, I surely would

What am I thinking about today?

Moving projects forward – this is a subject many misunderstand because they are not privy to, nor avail themselves of the dynamics of the elements of making a construction project materialize.

Please don’t misunderstand my intentions, nor negate the reality of how much I love being an architect. It’s time to be honest and stop being disappointed in a profession that we imagined to be something it never could be because we merely allowed ourselves to be misled in school. Think of it from the other side of the table – those investing the money.

Architects spend more time rooting through spreadsheets, budgets, bids, and schedules that making pretty sketches or renderings. If I have disappointed you, I’ll stop now before I share what else never existed in the first place.

Don’t quit. Find freedom within reality.
