Private Residence Renovation, Chicago. This home was originally a garage that had been converted to a small two-story condominium apartment. The first floor consisted of a very small, closed-in kitchen, ill-placed fire-place, a spiral stair as the only access to the second floor, and had limited natural light. A later addition to the living area was split by a partial bearing wall, again blocking natural light from the interior spaces.
