Genesis debuted as a stand-alone luxury automotive brand in 2015; since then, Genesis has become a globally recognized name in luxury automotives, competing with the world’s premium electric vehicle makers. Morphosis has partnered with Genesis to bring their signature brand and styling, attention-to-detail, and seamless customer experience to the design of Electric Vehicle Charging (EVC) Stations throughout the world.
The new EVC Stations encompass a range of exterior and interior permutations to respond to different climates and site conditions. The exterior EVC Stations are defined by sleek canopies that take inspiration from Genesis’ core design identity of “Athletic Elegance.” Eye-catching and instantly recognizable within the urban environment, the winged canopy form evokes the distinctive Genesis wing emblem through its lightness and elegance. The razor-thin canopy edge integrates a continuous LED light feature identifying the charging stations. At the underside of the canopy, a modular insert provides for different functions specific to each EVC site, ranging from site lighting, a heating element, a display screen, or sun louvers. The exterior canopies are designed in three different form factors to accommodate different site parameters and requirements, with sites including the Genesis’ flagship locations in Suji and Gangnam.
Complementing the exterior EVC Stations, the design of the interior EVC stations expand on the theme of Genesis’ “Athletic Elegance.” To address the unique existing conditions at each interior location, the design introduces a set of recognizable surfaces and forms identifying the EV charging locations. For vertical surfaces, a wall display conceals the required infrastructure for the charging units and provides a visible and clear branding wall for the chargers. For floor surfaces, an epoxy-coated directional and branding emblem is applied to each of the canopy stations.
