Neighborhood Bank

Affiliated Bank, Skokie

(currently Bank of America)

Prior to its acquisition by Affiliated, this facility contained a branch bank, loan offices and back-of-house functions for a local Savings & Loan. In integrating the bank into its operation, Affiliated reduced the facility to a branch. To help maintain the street edge, the corner portion of the original limestone faced storefront was retained. Inside the retail banking functions are organized along a central spine which extends through a new entry to parking. The project required extensive demolition and site work; gutting and renovation of a series of storefronts; new mechanical and electrical systems; and a new drive-up facility.

Role

Project Architect / Project Manager: Involved with the project from schematic design through construction. Completed the design work which included programming, space planning, and estimating; involved with the design development of the new entry/lobby; oversaw the completion of the working drawings and specifications; provided bidding assistance and performed construction administration tasks. The project included extensive coordination, client interaction and an involved municipal approval process.
