The following description is courtesy of the architects. Magyar Suzuki and the communication agency Cluso approached us to design for them public elements suitable for presenting nature photos taken on the Danube for the Erzsébet promenade in Esztergom.

At the very beginning of the conversation about the project, we managed to place the issue of the public exhibition in a broader context, and at our suggestion, our clients were also open to the idea of creating a partially closed, partially open installation space despite the open-air exhibition. The completed building is thus able to exclude to a certain extent the many stimuli that the public space represents and to give the visitor the opportunity to immerse himself in the images. All of this, of course, in such a way that the installation itself draws attention to itself and at the same time uses the features of the public space, which happens to be the light of the sun.

The actual reclining dungeon was created as a result of this thinking. The horizontal form, which rests on a driftwood from the Danube, can be entered from below, and upon entering the space, Attila Gulyás’ 12 nature photos of the Danube printed on Plexiglas sheets are revealed, illuminated by daylight.

In the evening, the installation starts to work in reverse and thanks to the reflectors inside, the images come alive from the outside. The installation can be viewed until the end of September.
