26-story apartment tower tops out in Silver Spring, Md.

Solaire 8200 Dixon, a 26-story, 403-unit apartment tower in Silver Spring’s Ripley District, has topped out. The building will become the tallest building in Silver Spring and house the area’s first food hall/city market, which will be open to the public.

NCARB releases demographic breakdown of licensing exam pass rates

On its 10th year of publishing information about its licensing exams, the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) for the first time has released a new section in the 2021 edition of its Architect Registration Examination that breaks down the pass rate by several demographic categories. I was intrigued by a post on LinkedIn where Mark Somerfield credited the diagonal version of Ionic to Scamozzi. I hadn’t heard this attribution before, but I knew Scamozzi as a pupil of Palladio who completed some of his projects and wrote a book, as so many of the architects of that era did.
