Noke Architects brings Venetian cicchetti to Warsaw

Venice is known for many things, from bridges and lagoons to glass and cicchetti – pre-dinner aperitivos and small plates that ‘open’ the palate and conversation. This concept is borrowed 800 miles away at Warsaw bar Va Bene Cicchetti.

NOKE Architects designed the Powisle neighbourhood spot, drawing on the colours of the Venetian flag (the Standard of Saint Mark) for its interiors. Red walls and gilded tiles set the backdrop, while red travertine is used for the bar top and a specially commissioned mural by artist Ola Niepsuj. Of course, there’s plenty of glass in the mix, too, with custom lamps and fixtures.

Lagoon green is used on the lower part of the walls, down into the basement and even on the lower parts of furniture, mimicking the flooding of the streets at high tide, while further nautical references can be found via shimmering tiles and porthole windows.

As for the cicchetti itself, Va Bene’s menu offers a comprehensive cocktail list with pasta and pizza for sharing.
