Peek inside a tiny Copenhagen loft with timbered ceilings and walls

In the heart of old Copenhagen, this modest apartment blends rustic beams and timber floors with a minimalist aesthetic that’s far from austere.

The Copenhagen property dates from 1741 and has been modernised while celebrating its rugged timber bones, with cross beams and rafters injecting character into each space. Rooms have extra high ceilings and half-timbering throughout, with white plaster to contrast and milled shelving for storage.

The one-bedroom apartment is located on the first floor of the brick buildings, with three large windows looking out to Grønnegade to the east. It has been curated well in a classic Scandi style, with furniture and touches adding character and cleverly positioned mirrors exaggerating light and volume. But at just 520 sqm, it’s firmly on the small side.

When it comes to location, however, it scores high. Surrounded by historic buildings and right in the middle of Kongens Nytorv, Kongens Have and Kongens streets, it’s a well-placed pied-à-terre for exploring the Old Town. Adam Schnack is listing the Danish property for 3.4m DKK (or approximately €471,000).
