PAU to lead the design of a new gateway enhancement project at Niagara Falls

Vishaan Chakrabarti’s Practice for Architecture and Urbanism (PAU) has been selected to lead the design of the new $12 million Niagara Falls Heritage Gateways project, the studio unveiled via a press announcement on Thursday. The project’s brief calls for the creation of four gateway structures and will supposedly enhance connections between downtown Niagara Falls and the popular state park in an extension of a previous strategic plan begun by PAU and the state in early 2021.

In Collaboration with 180 Degrees Design + Build, Echo Canyon is a transformation of a 1970’s era home at the base of Camelback Mountain in Scottsdale, Arizona. The complete renovation and addition open the residence up to the stunning views. A new entry gate, “portal” leads to an entry courtyard and into the great room addition. Interior spaces are organized around this new central hub with separate guest suite and master suite wings.

Nonresidential construction spending rises by nearly 1% in November, driven by boosts in manufacturing and conservation projects

According to a recent analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), national nonresidential construction spending rose 0.9% in November. On a seasonally adjusted annualized basis, spending in this sector totaled $930.1 billion for the month. Across the 16 nonresidential subcategories, nine saw increases in spending over the month.
