This groundbreaking summer course and conference offers an intensive two-week immersion encouraging the intersection between disciplines, from architecture, design, planning and the built environment to scientific disciplines concerned with human perception and behaviour. Join us to explore cutting-edge research and tools for practice and education known as the developing discipline of neuroscience for architecture, or human sciences for architecture. This summer program will take place in Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain and in Porto, Portugal and it is called "Moving Boundaries: Human Sciences and the Future of Architecture". Among the faculty are world-renowned experts in architecture, theory and human sciences, including Alvaro Siza, Rick Joy, Juhani Pallasmaa, Alberto Perez-Gomez, William JR Curtis, Harry Mallgrave, Tatiana Berger, Sarah Goldhagen, Vittorio Gallese and many more.
The course and conference is open to architects, urban designers, landscape architects, interior designers, historians, anthropologists, cognitive scientists, environmental and health professionals, psychologists, educators and graduate students in these disciplines. The course is directed by Moving Boundaries Collaborative Founder, Architect and Professor, Tatiana Berger and Scientist and Professor, Sergei Gepshtein, both based in southern California. There will be 28 experts and faculty members and up to 65 participants from twenty different countries, and the course is taught in English.
