Moshe Safdie donates entire archive to McGill University

The professional archive of renowned Israeli-Canadian architect Moshe Safdie will now be housed at his alma mater McGill University , the school announced today. The Habitat 67 designer will also donate his restored private apartment in the famed modular housing complex, along with the undergraduate thesis titled “A Case for City Living” that led to its inception as part of the Expo 67 exhibition in Montreal 55 years ago.

Miami issues massive $10 billion RFP for downtown redevelopment

Formally branded as MetroCenter, the 28-acre district includes the seat of government for Miami-Dade County. When a developer is chosen, they could be given the right to build up to 23.7 million square feet of mixed-use space on 17 acres. The developer could be chosen in 2024, according to the Miami Herald. A former East London school block is now a dramatic, light-filled home

This East London property has come a long way since its days as the science lab, canteen and art department of a local school. Made with volume masterminded the 1935 redbrick building’s award-winning renovation in 2017, wrestling it from a defunct school -building-turned-apartment-block into a light-filled four-bedroom home. The London practice honed in on the building’s key architectural details when reuniting the building, using them as the focal point of the conversion.

American artist Michael Heizer has completed City, a monumental sculpture formed of earthen mounds, geoglyphs and concrete pyramids deep in the Nevada desert that took more than 50 years to construct. Measuring around 1.5 miles long and 0.5 miles wide (2.4 by 0.8 kilometres), City consists of several structures resembling ancient geometric temples that Heizer began constructing in 1970 with the help of materials found on the site.
