The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS) has named a rural office and café by Moxon Architects as its Andrew Doolan Best Building in Scotland Award winner for 2022. Completed in 2020, Quarry Studios serves as the firm’s new headquarters while also providing a perky public reprieve for tourists and visitors staggering in from nearby Balmoral.

Shanghai -based firm Neri&Hu has completed a café within a historic, 19th-century public garden noted for its Shikumen typology residences. Named Zhang Yuan, the site has recently reopened after a complete rehabilitation of its historic buildings. As part of the revamp , coffee roaster and retailer Blue Bottle Coffee Company commissioned Neri&Hu to create a retail space in one of the old residences.

The International Union of Architects (UIA) has announced the results of the Great Green Wall challenge, the official student competition of the 29th UIA World Congress of Architects that is set to take place in Copenhagen between July 2nd and 6th of next year. Five prize winners and nine honorable mentions were selected out of a group of more than 150 entries that were evaluated by the jury in the Danish capital between December 6th and 8th.

French practice Bruno Gaudin Architectes has completed a 15-year project to renovate and open up the historic rue de Richelieu site of the National Library of France in Paris , incorporating new public routes and spaces. Completed in the late 19th century by architect Henri Labrouste, the library is considered a masterpiece of the Beaux Arts style, with vast, skylit reading rooms framed by slender steel columns and highly decorative arches.

Weathering-steel accents break up the massing of the all-white Badlands Home that BLDG Workshop designed in a rural area outside of Toronto. The project is named after the unique topographic features of the area, known as the Cheltenham Badlands.
