Michigan Governor Whitmer signs bills to resurrect state's only HBCU into college of design

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed two bills on Tuesday to re-establish the state’s first and only Historically Black College or University (HBCU). The former Lewis College of Business is slated to reopen as the Pensole Lewis College of Business and Design in 2022. It was originally founded in Indianapolis in 1928 before relocating to Detroit in 1939 where it operated until closing in 2013.

Modern Texas Farmhouse by Cosan Studio

Set amid the rolling hills of a 60-acre ranch, this sprawling 4,446-square-foot home was designed to integrate with and preserve the majestic oak trees. The Texas Limestone found throughout the majority of the exterior and interior of the home was sourced from a local quarry. Natural cedar siding, aged to a beautiful silver-gray patina, was used on secondary facades as a contrasting material to the stone and metal roof.

It was to be one of Mr. de Blasio’s signature marks on the landscape. Days from the end of his administration, with only $1 million dedicated, none of those sculptures has yet materialized.

How past pandemics affected the urban housing markets of Amsterdam and Paris

I recently stumbled upon this research paper by Marc Francke (University of Amsterdam) and Matthijs Korevaar (Erasmus School of Economics) looking at the impact of pandemics on housing markets. More specifically, it looks at the impacts of the bubonic plague on 17th-century Amsterdam and of cholera on 19th-century Paris.
