This renovated Mallorcan finca is a masterclass in modern rustic

Interiors layer textures and organic finishes

Orchards and vineyards wrap around this rustic country house outside Mallorca’s Binissalem, with terrific views of the Tramuntana mountains from its swimming pool.

Casa Oliva is listed via Gennel Properties for €3.3m and was completely renovated in 2018, weaving together original features with modern finishes. Layers of history can be read via rugged A-frame trusses, and high beamed ceilings painted white to hone a modern Mediterranean loft feel.

Stone pillars and fireplaces echo the finca’s rustic facade and add a tactile touch to spaces with under-heated tiling and cool white shades across the free-flowing ground floor kitchen and living room. Upstairs, inky hues are used in the bedrooms, signalling a shift from shared to private and cosy spaces.

There are several terraces and porches on different levels, as well as an outdoor swimming pool – backdropped by dramatic views of the mountains and enveloped by over 200 olive trees, a rose garden and mature fruit trees – and a sauna.
