With a grand opening just a little over a week away, the Orange County Museum of Art ( OCMA ) has revealed the latest photos of its Morphosis -designed new South Coast home in the beachfront community of Costa Mesa. Located on the campus of the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, the 53,000-square-foot museum will be inaugurated with five special exhibitions and 24-hour celebrations to honor the work that went into its design and three-year-long construction.

Sitting on a flag lot at the corner of Lido Beach, this 2,625 sq. ft. prefab home serves as a summer house for a professor / writer and her family. The home attempts to establish a relationship to the surrounding dunes and beach while still being referential to its cozy neighborhood. At the ground level, three concrete storage volumes serve as organizing elements that lift the home off of the ground and create a carport, sitting area, and an outdoor shower that are sheltered from the street.

Tsunashima House is the renovation of a two-storey family house and its detached stand-alone building originally built during the 1970s in Kohoku, north side of Yokohama. The project wanted to subtract elements to the existing premises for opening the space, thus making the living areas more flexible. Prior to the renovation the first floor was indeed characterised by a hectic sequence of rooms and hallways that gave the dwelling a maze-like effect.

Client: Impasta | Location: Beverly Hills, CA | Program: Restaurant | Area: 1,800 SF | Status: Completed 2021. Impasta is the first brick-and-mortar location for a novel fast-casual restaurant concept serving carb-free alternative Italian food. The project was a renovation of an existing diner that had not been renovated since the 1960s. The storefront of the previously dark and compact space was redesigned to let in more light and create a lively indoor-outdoor dining experience.
