A4: Architectural Historian Vincent Scully

A4 Architects

Many people have teachers that we particularly remember as having had an especially large impact on their lives and careers. For me, that teacher was Vincent Scully, who taught Architecture at Yale University from 1947 when he was still completing his PhD until 1991 when he officially retired. He was, for the vast majority of his career, the most popular teacher at Yale and typically was assigned the Law School Auditorium as it was the largest teaching space on campus.

The Magnificent Joan Mitchell Painting Show Currently at SFMOMA

The Style Saloniste

I spent three hours viewing this dramatic and superbly presented exhibit recently. The great American artist, Joan Mitchell (1925-1992) is honored with a show of 80 distinguished paintings from her large body of work. I was moved by the bravura scale of her works, and engaged by the beauty and exquisite color sense of these large-scale canvases. I’ve been thinking about them ever since—their vibrant expression, the artistry, the mystery and her physical involvement with paint and pastel and colo

Few things in the modern world work without power and data. This, in turn, means that sockets and distributors are needed everywhere in order to avoid losing connection. An average office workplace with minimal equipment will need four sockets: for the monitor, the computer, the mobile phone charging cable and the lamp, as well as one connection each for internal networks and the Internet.

Intelligent building technology from Hager | News | Architonic

Often, we don't see the really important things – and only actually notice them once they are missing. This thought can be applied to many things in life, of course, but it is an easy one to prove in relation to the building industry, and in particular to intelligent building technology that runs in the background while ensuring the functionality and longevity of architectural ideas.

Autodesk Docs/BIM 360 Default Hub

The Architect's Desktop

Since I provide support to all Revit projects in our office, I am a member of all of the projects hosted on BIM 360. Most of these are on my firm's hub, but we have a number of joint-venture projects or projects where we are a consultant where the project is hosted on another firm's hub. I have long been annoyed that Autodesk has not provided a means to designate a default hub; they seem to set the one that is first alphabetically as the default most of the time, and that is not my firm's hub.

The magic is in the detail, said Theodor Fontane, although the famous German writer never had the pleasure of operating a <a href ="[link] switch</a> And yet, hardly anything proves how true his remark is more clearly than the Berker brand, which, with 16 design lines made of authentic materials, enhances the quality of any architectural concept.
