Maria Nicanor has been named the new director of the Cooper Hewitt Museum

Change has come to the top of America’s oldest and best-funded arts organizations as Rice University ’s Maria Nicanor has been named director of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, in New York. Nicanor will step into a position previously occupied by interim directors John Davis and Ruki Neuhold-Ravikumar on March 21st. As director, she will oversee 86 employees and an annual operating budget of $15 million.

There’s a glowing redbrick interior within at this rare Frank Lloyd Wright -designed house in Wisconsin, up for rent via Airbnb. The pristine riverside house, known as Still Bend, was built in 1940 in the city of Two Rivers, located along the Lake Michigan shoreline, and embodies Wright’s vision of modern family living. It is based on Wright’s Life magazine ‘Dream House’ design and is a rare example of a two-storey Usonian house (they typically have one floor).

MTA announces the launch of fare cap to increase ridership

Our solution is to make the rooftop terrace a gathering area for young people.
