The Fenestration Industry continues to grow and strives for buildings that are both environmentally-friendly and energy efficient. FGIA actively participates in sustainability initiatives, with a focus on the fenestration and glazing industry.
FGIA Efforts
Sustainability Steering Committee oversees the various committees and task groups involved in establishing standard practices that lead to product sustainability – from component development to structural integrity. In a collaborative effort with other fenestration industry stakeholders developed the Cradle to Gate Window Product Category Rule (PCR) document, published September 10, 2015. The PCR provides window manufacturers with the tools needed to develop comprehensive product-specific Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) to their customers. EPDs developed using this ANSI-approved PCR are valid for the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED v4 Program.
