Kami from the Sky by Moradavaga reimagines a small red hut

Moradavaga‘s ‘Kami from the Sky’ introduces a temporary inflatable installation designed for the cultural utilization of a former railway station in Auer (Aur-Ora) in Italy. The project was achieved with the support of raumlaborberlin, known for its work on inflatable structures such as the ‘Kitchenmonument’ and ‘Spacebuster.’

The installation serves as a conceptual continuation of ‘Kami in the Whispering Forest,’ a project by Moradavaga completed in Neumarkt/Egna, Italy, in 2018. This iteration advances the narrative of ‘Kami,’ a small red hut, now situated at the Aur-Ora train station after its descent with a large, specialized parachute.

Upon landing in Auer/Ora, ‘Kami’ transitions from its Whispering Forest origins, establishing itself on the grounds of the former railway station. The parachute inflates to form a temporary space that fosters creative engagement and cultural experimentation until the station undergoes renovation.

The project by Moradavaga was realized through a workshop held at the Youth and Cultural Center Point in Neumarkt/Egna and at Haus Curtinie in Kurtinig/Cortina, facilitating collaborative efforts and innovative uses of the site.
