About Competition

When a student migrates to another city or a state for pursuing higher education, finding o suitable accommodation that lies in proximity to the institute and offers basic amenities is a primary concern. On campus housing have a limited capacity & hence students prefer a PG i.e.,” Paying Guest” accommodations wherein a lot of compromise is to be done in terms of living conditions & PG’s come with a strict set of restrictions such as timing restrictions, lack of quality food, internet connectivity & personal space.

India is considered as an education hub in the Asia- Pacific region. With increasing enrolments, student mobility both internationally & intra-nationally has seen a significant rise & with this the demand for superior quality student accommodations is also rising.

A Student Community Living concept is something we are trying to achieve through this design brief. A community where a student has a range of living options to choose from, as per his/her requirements, an accommodation that comes loaded with complimentary facilities such as fitness centres, laundry services, air conditioners, food courts, play grounds, gardens & much more. A community which respects individuality but at the same time is very flexible such that it blurs the threshold between indoors & outdoors and a community that is not only aesthetically pleasing but is also functional, sustainable & fulfils the physical & psychological needs of students.

Student Housing in India is still at nascent stages but as architects it is our responsibility to shape these sectors for overall wellbeing of a community which is going to be the foundation of new India.

The challenge is to design a quality & innovative Student Housing in India for 140 student occupants with all individual/shared amenities. The aim of the competition is to enhance the concept of “Student Community Living in India.

About the Organizer

Years of rigorous training, hardwork, endless juries & redo’s makes a normal student an Architect. Being an Architect is a proud feeling in itself because you are a only few in the world that has different vision of looking at the world. We have the power to express through our creative minds & the responsibility of converting people’s dream into reality.

But today there are “n” number of architectural professionals in the world. In this new information age, countless creative concepts go unnoticed. One portfolio should not be the only way to judge one’s creative mindset. It is for this reason we have created this platform “ARCHMELLO” to promote young minds by organizing international architecture design competitions.

Our team of architectural professionals works to develop unique competition themes which is created after hours of discussions & debates. The briefs we design are not just conceptual ideas instead we look for real life issues faced by society at different contexts so that our participants can provide a solution to the society through their architectural genius.

The jury for the competitions will be done by renowned personalities from the field of architecture and design. Deserved recognition and promotion of innovative talent is one of our primary principles at Archmello. In order to encourage more & more young talents we will work to give maximum entries a fair share of total prize money. The winners of the competitions will get monetary prizes and certificates, feedback by the jury besides publication on our website & on our social media pages.
