Construction starts for August rise 6% with huge gains in the manufacturing sector

Nonresidential starts for the month rose by 40% thanks to a 285% increase in the manufacturing sector. Residential and nonbuilding starts both fell by 1% and 14%, respectively, while starts in the commercial and nonresidential building sectors both rose by 8% and 24% each.

The latest data from November’s Dodge Construction Network report has revealed an 18% decline in total construction starts nationwide to an adjusted annual rate of $926.3 The dip follows an October rebound that ended two consecutive months of declining figures.
