PRINCIPLES Square at Perth Design Week by OMA

PRINCIPLES Square

PRINCIPLES Square is the central hub for Perth Design Week 2024.

Formed with the PRINCIPLES furniture collection and located at the Cathedral Square in Perth’s city center, the space hosts a wide range of public activities throughout the Perth Design Week. PRINCIPLES Square marks the launch of the collection in Australia.

The PRINCIPLES furniture collection provides furnishings that can be used by anyone, at any time, to best support the needs of the contemporary workplace and institutions – such as universities and libraries.

OMA and UniFor have worked in close collaboration since 2018 to design the furniture for the Axel Springer campus in Berlin. The collection was eventually developed into the PRINCIPLES collection, which was launched at the Milan Design Week 2022.

PRINCIPLES Square is the manifestation of the potential of the collection. The installation takes advantage of the flexibility offered by PRINCIPLES to support different activities.

At the center, the ‘donuts’ and the ‘soft islands’ – with playful colors – create a lively core space for lectures, panel discussions, and performing arts.

On the two sides, the ‘spines’ define zones for interactive workshops and a cosy reading corner. The ‘soft islands’ and sofas form lounge areas where film screenings take place.

When there are no events, PRINCIPLES Square is an outdoor public co-working area with a relaxing atmosphere. Source by OMA.
