Call for registrations to 24H's 39th edition

24H, a competition branch of ideasforward, is calling for new ideas about its themed-based international competition, titled "noWar" in its 39th edition.

IF it is an international platform for competitions that aims to connect ideas from different areas of society in order to help transform cities and make them increasingly self-sustaining, efficient and green.

We are looking for innovative ideas and new ways of thinking.

In a global emergency period, it is increasingly important that we think globally. IF is the space. Here, you can try and experiment, everything is possible!

Aim of the competition

A place where the time limit is used to stimulate your creativity. This contest aims to present 24-hour architectural responses to the problems affecting cities and society today and consecutively the world, with a very strong focus on sustainable and environmentally friendly measures.

Commitment, perseverance, inspiration and hard work are all the necessary bases to develop a proposal that meets the premises that will be regularly disclosed in the competition summary. There is a registration period when it ends, the competition starts!

You have 24 hours to develop a proposal that responds to the program contained in the contest brief that will only be available on the same day of the competition.

Take the risk!

Framework

noWar

Recently we have witnessed a global escalation of violence worldwide, the most mediatic case being Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
War has always been present in human history because it seems to be part of the human condition. The lust for power!

Like pandemics, wars are always a great scourge for some and a great opportunity for others. It is in the midst of this perversity that we find ourselves. We are like lawyers. We serve both parties.

We draw cities, buildings, streets, squares, and after they have been destroyed, we draw again. Seen like that, it doesn't look bad, in fact, it could even be an opportunity to improve what could not be well if it weren't for the thousands of lives lost, historic buildings destroyed (which will never be replaced), and the architectural heritage of qualitative value that was lost forever.

There is another reality that we designers concern us. This one is upstream of the wars. Maybe it gives them the basis for being born, growing, and doing their damage. Military architecture. Extensive military fortifications, barracks, shelters, bunkers, checkpoints, watchtowers, etc. It is in this reality that we contribute to the success, or not, of a war and/or defense of a nation.

“When the rich make war, it's always the poor who die.” Jean-Paul Sartre.
