In the latest episode of the Young Architect Podcast, we had the pleasure of speaking with Zalmy Meyer, an inspiring figure in the world of architecture and a Licensed Architect!
Zalmy's journey into architecture was fueled by a lifelong fascination with the built world, a passion that led him to pursue a degree at Florida International University (FIU). His story is a beacon of inspiration for anyone on the cusp of following their dreams.
After graduating, Zalmy quickly recognized the value of obtaining his architecture license. Embarking on the Architect Registration Examination (ARE) journey, he realized it would be more challenging than anticipated. Yet, Zalmy understood that the greatest risk lay in not pursuing his license at all. Making a bold decision, he left his stable job to focus on studying full-time. The road was tough, but his determination paid off when he passed the exams and founded his own architecture firm.
Zalmy's commitment to architecture didn't stop there; he returned to FIU as an educator, sharing his knowledge and passion with the next generation. He now teaches a course on the AREs, guiding aspiring architects through the rigorous process. Outside the classroom, Zalmy explores photography, a hobby that complements his architectural work by capturing the essence of the built environment.
