The Princeton University School of Architecture has announced the theme and list of participants for its annual Womxn in Design and Architecture (WDA) conference taking place from February 29th to March 1st in New Jersey.
The two-day event will honor the life and work of Ghanaian-born Scottish architect Alero Olympio, who is noted for her ecological approach to designing cultural projects, private residences, and landscapes in different countries.
Participants include architect/writer Nana Biamah-Ofosu, entrepreneur Erandi de Silva, architect Baerbel Mueller, environmentalist Renée Neblett, Low Design Office founder DK Osseo-Asare, the most recent RIBA Gold Medalist Lesley Lokko, and many others. Topics discussed by each panelist will relate to the work of Olympio as part of an overall focus on building locally and with sustainable materials and methods.
"Olympio’s work exists at a nexus that continues to be central to contemporary architectural discourse: Intertwining biogenic materiality and social resiliency," the school shares.
