About this event
The Environmental LCA in Design Symposium is back for 2022!
Get inspired, engage with change-makers, and leave with the tools you need to to create innovative, high-quality, environmentally responsible design.
Sustainable design practices continue to be driven by a growing stream of reliable data. No longer limited by heuristic practices, ecologically responsive design increasingly leverages new methods and insights gleaned from computationally guided workflows in conjunction with proliferating material databases.
Environmental life cycle assessment (LCA) provides a fact-based scientific approach to evaluate design decisions, grounded in a deep understanding of the environmental impacts associated with human directed natural resource flows and the industrial processes that transform them.
Building on insights from last year's symposium, eLCAd 2022 once again unites two professions engaged in parallel systems thinking: designers working at many different scales and the LCA community of researchers, data experts, and information interface providers.
Designers must balance financial, performance, and scheduling criteria when bringing novel products and systems into the world while maintaining public health, safety, and welfare.
LCA experts provide ways to improve the ecological profiles of product development through quantitative analyses of clearly bounded system conditions and carefully qualified studies.
Through three half days of plenary presentations and working sessions, we will come together to define actionable, collaborative; opportunities brought about through continuing advances in computational tools that promise to augment sustainable design processes at multiple scales.

Organized by the New Jersey Institute of Technology and the American Center for Life Cycle Assessment with generous support from the Centre interdisciplinaire de recherche en opérationnalisation du développement durable (CIRODD)
