British-Indian artist Anish Kapoor unveils his first major solo exhibition in Scandinavia this week, a takeover of the ARK museum of contemporary art in Ishøj, outside Copenhagen.

Unseen is a 40-year survey of monumental sculptures and installation works, literally built into the fabric of the museum in places.

Made from materials such as pure pigment, wax, granite, marble, limestone and polished stainless steel, Kapoor’s work explores voids and absences with sensual poignancy. It includes the room-busting steel blimp Memory (Erindring, 2008) and the infinite eddy Descension (Descent, 2014), both of which contain elements of omission.

The ARK exhibition runs through 20 October 2024. For the grand opening on 11 April, local DJ Mads Axelsen  designed a DJ set consisting of new, old and unreleased songs, bass-heavy beats and dreamy soundscapes.
