The vast majority of the home was fabricated off-site at a modular manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania. On site, the local general contractor prepared the site and foundation for the arrival of six prefab modules. Cedar and cement board exterior cladding and ipe decks were then completed on-site.

French studio Ciguë has elevated this timber-clad home in Saint Julien le Petit, France , above its rural site using slender, removable steel foundations. A roof has a large overhang and is supported by thin steel supports. The junctions between the foundations and house are also left visible.

With water on three sides, the site is rich in natural beauty and ecological diversity. The wetland’s soft soil caused the site’s foundation to be rather weak. This project is located in the easternmost part of the Taizhou Jianyang Lake Wetland. The end result is an ecologically friendly and well-built wetland cabin.
