A new study from the University of California, Berkeley ’s Terner Center for Housing Innovation has uncovered over 171,749 acres of developable land owned by nonprofit colleges or faith-based organizations in the state, bolstering the aims of the “Yes in God’s Backyard” movement as it pushes Governor Gavin Newsom to sign SB 4 by the end of next month.

Japanese practice G Architects Studio used soy sauce and ammonium chloride to rapidly oxidise the copper cladding of this coffee stand in Kyoto , giving certain areas a distinctive blue-green finish. Located at the base of a two-storey wooden building at a busy intersection, the one-metre-deep kiosk was formerly a Bento stand serving nearby workers before being transformed into a coffee stand for confectionary company Suetomi.

Helsinki-based JKMM Architects used glulam and black spruce cladding to relate the Chappe Art House to surrounding timber structures in the coastal town of Tammisaari, Finland. Turning a corner, 1 This is one of my favourite buildings that I saw on a stroll around Birmingham’s jewellery quarter a while back. It’s not a factory or anything to do with the jewellery business, however: it was built as a pub at the end of the 1860s, that decade when Victorian architecture became more jazzy, colourful and free than most of what went before.

In 2019, a small team of BIM enthusiasts set about building a Revit model of Notre Dame de Paris, purely as a private venture.
