An oversized stepped roof that doubles as an "amphitheatre for the city" tops BBT Hilltop, a burger restaurant in Kuwait City designed by architecture studio TAEP/AAP. On the boards in San Francisco’s Noe Valley neighborhood is a new house for a three-peat client of Faulkner Architects. Four levels that include a shared garage, pool and garden along with roof top deck allow uncommon amenity for a city lot. An open plan builds spatial connection between the neighborhood and garden.

As the client is a chef, the renovation centres around a large kitchen at the heart of the ground floor lit by a strip of skylights along one side. Avoiding internal linings wherever possible, this kitchen is wrapped by an exposed hardwood timber frame infilled with hempcrete, which was hand-poured with the help of the clients.
